Should I use a free blog or pay for my own web hosting?

• Blogging requires a lot dedication. So I tend to think that, until you're sure you're going to stick with it, you shouldn't spend money on it. I generally recommend that beginning bloggers start out with a free blogging platform like Blogger or Wordpress.

• Eventually, if you become serious about blogging, you'll likely want to purchase your own domain name, or "dot com" website address, which generally costs less than $20.00 USD per year. One good place to do this is Domainmonger.

• You can also buy your own web hosting for about $10.00 USD per month, which gives you a bit more control over your blog. (This link explains.)

However, setting up your own web hosting and moving your blog there requires some technical savvy. You might want to read some of the blogging books listed in my ebook before you dive in.
